| Hobbies & Interests | Meg has an avid love for learning, and particularly enjoys learning about other cultures and societies and their histories, dragging a small personal library of books on every assignment. She enjoys chess and in the style of most Rigelians can play the harmonica and banjo, and will try and find a band of similar tastes to jam with. Her greatest passion though is reserved for kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts training, a hobby taken up around the time she joined the Academy as a pressure valve release for the stresses of study. |
| Personal History | Megosho Gehente was the third child born to her family. Her parents were small time traders in the Rigel Colonies and had gained Federation citizenship and integrated well, leveraging their connection with other Orion traders to create the best life for their family. As the third child, Meg was mostly left to her own devices, and soon developed an independent streak. While her older sisters were trained from a young age to take on the family business, Meg turned away from Orion traditions, and made fast local friends in the multicultural melting pot. Growing up studious, Meg excelled at languages and sciences. Outgoing and talkative, she had a wide circle of friends, and came to love her homeworld and the wider Federation. During the 2260s, there were regular documentaries on the latest Starfleet discoveries, and the daring Captains facing down the Klingons and Romulans while pushing back the frontier. She decided from a young age that Starfleet was the career for her. Graduating from High School, and completing the entrance exams to Starfleet Academy, Meg had a tearful, and not a little strained, goodbye with her family. Once on Earth, Meg threw herself into her studies, and socialised hard, becoming the life of the party. As she progressed through her Academy courses, she made a small group of fast friends that would stick through thick and thin in the coming decades. The Orion was also introduced to kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts as part of the Academy PT program, and along with weightlifting, took to them like duck to water, enjoying the feeling they gave her. Graduating in the top 25th percentile of her Academy year in 2279, right into the lap of the Federation-Klingon Cold War. Having excelled in languages, linguistics and subspace communications, Meg’s natural position was within the Communications Department. She elected to spend a further year in a crash course on signals intelligence in order to broaden her usefulness. Assigned to the USS Perth, a Miranda class vessel, Meg spent her first tour of duty patrolling the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone and learning the ropes of a Starfleet career. Though the Perth was aging, and cramped, Meg loved the ship enjoying the sense of freedom calling in a different port every few weeks gave her. BIO TO BE COMPLETED. |
